About Our Organization
Our Vision
To end the euthanasia of all healthy and treatable animals.
Our Mission
To set the standard in care and adoption services for pets while educating the community in the ethical and responsible treatment of companion animals.
About Us
The Kansas Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization that receives 22,000 animals each year from citizens unable or unwilling to care for them. Protecting pets since 1888, the Society receives no government, national humane association or United Way funding and depends entirely on private donations and adoption fees.
About Our New Facility
The opening of the Murfin Animal Care Campus and our new state-of-the-art facility marks a new beginning for the Kansas Humane Society. From the very start of this incredible project, we have based every detail, every design and every decision on what would ultimately be best for the pets we serve. Thanks for all you did to make our dream a reality.
The Kansas Humane Society and Wichita Animal Services will continue to operate in separate facilities, but share collaborative programs designed to serve our community in the best possible way. The Murfin Animal Care Campus will be a model for animal care throughout the country, demonstrating the many benefits of this public/private partnership. All funds raised from the Kansas Humane Society's Woofstock go directly to support our services.
The benefits of the Kansas Humane Society on the Murfin Animal Care Campus to our communities’ pets and people are numerous:
•Keep animals healthy by utilizing state of the art plumbing and ventilation systems and surfaces that can be easily sanitized
•Provide a calm, home-like environment to reduce animal stress and increase every pet’s chance of finding a new family
•Increase adoptions by showcasing pets in their best possible light
•Provide medical treatment space for pets needing specialized care
•Increase our ability to provide quality learning opportunities about responsible pet care to thousands of children
•Provide advanced veterinary facilities for animal care and increase the number of spayed/neutered animals in our community
•End the euthanasia of all adoptable animals within 5 years of opening our new campus
Please stop by and experience firsthand the shiny new kennels, giant windows, colorful walls and most importantly the healthy and happy pets waiting to see you at our new facility. The staff and volunteers at KHS look forward to seeing you.
Donations to Our Capital Campaign
While Woofstock supports our daily operations, we also welcome donations outside of Woofstock to our Capital Campaign. Your gift to the campaign will help KHS close the gap on the remaining $500,000 needed to fully fund our fabulous new facility. Please contact Kristi Oberg at (316) 220-8703 or e-mail koberg@kshumane.org for more information.
